20th January 2018 Windsurfing: El Medano, Tenerife Wind Direction: NE Wind Stength: F7 gustF8 Surf / Sea State: chop and rollers Air Temperature: 22.5 Sea Temperature: 19.4 Weather: sun Max Speed: Distance Covered: Best day this week for me. Started with 4.7m but way too windy so quickly down to 4.2m. Started for harbour wall but too windy over there and Richard returned on 3.7m. Even though overpowered it was fun for 3 hours, sitting middle half hour out but handy chatting as picked up a tip on gybing in strong winds about running into back of swell to slow down and power round. Worked too wind eased and had a nice run along a glassy wave close to shore, otherwise waves were running into each other. Swells not as big as expected so maybe harbour up the cast has taken something. As wind eased tried riding waves but getting tired so packed up. Pity not fitter as wind stayed all day. Put 16cm fins in place of 14cm central ones ad helped tracking and since not very choppy stayed controllable, |
